Colwyn Bay Cricket Club await arrival of overseas ace

Pakistan international Usama Mir is on his way to Colwyn Bay CC

Colwyn Bay are hoping exciting new overseas signing, Pakistan international Usama Mir, is available for the first team’s home match against Wallasey on Saturday.

Mir, 27, is due to land in the UK on Saturday morning on a flight from Bahrain.

His addition will be welcomed by a Bay side currently bottom of the Liverpool and District Competition ECB Premier League and without a win in their first four matches.

The Punjab right-arm leg-spinner has played in six ODI’s for his country, having made his debut against New Zealand in January 2023. He took his first wicket of Kane Williamson and went on to claim two victims in total in that match.

His last ODI was also versus New Zealand five days ago.

Mir plays for Central Punjab in domestic cricket, as well as T20 side Multan Sultans, whose squad includes the likes of Adil Rashid, Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood.

He began his career representing Khan Research Laboratories from 2013 to 2015 and remained as wicket-taking option for his captain. Mir was the leading wicket taker during the 2015 edition of the Haier Super 8 T20 Cup.

In 2017, Mir played for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. He was also the part of the Pakistan team which ended as runners up to Sri Lanka in the 2017 ACC Emerging Team Cup. During that tournament he finished as the leading wicket-taker with 13 dismissals.

April 2018 saw him named in Punjab’s squad for the 2018 Pakistan Cup. He took the most wickets for Punjab during the tournament, with six dismissals in four matches.[

On 3 June 2018, he was selected to play for the Toronto Nationals in the players’ draft for the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament.

In First-Class Cricket up to January 2023, his highest score with the bat was 77 and best bowling figures 6-91.
