Hockey Wales Challenge Cup Final

Bangor Ladies 2nds 2 (Creer, N Culley)

Cardiff Medics 3rds 0

Saturday brought joy for Bangor City Hockey Club as their ladies 2nds beat Cardiff Medics 3rds 2-0 to win the Hockey Wales Challenge Cup final In Swansea.

On a hot day City got off to a great start with textbook passing moves and had some great chances to score.

Wales international Meinir Thomas went close to breaking the deadlock.

City’s pressure finally paid off with a superb goal by Amelie Creer. City continued to control the game and were frustrated that more goals did not follow.

Cardiff Medics were unable to get out of their half due to great defensive work in midfield from the North Walians.

City control paid off with a Culley family goal, Rhian passing from the back and Nia cutting in from the wing to score.

In the 2nd half, with the weather getting hotter, Medics started to get into the game, but had no real chances.

City had more opportunities with the Medics keeper making a dynamic save.

Bangor finished the game strong and won the cup 2-0.

A statement from the winners: “Thanks to all the people who travelled down to support, to Rhys Culley for coaching (and picking up his Young Ambassador of the Year award), to Rhian Culley for organising and to elite manager and bus driver Keith Proudlove.

PoM: Multiple votes for Amelie, Nia and Lottie Pleasant, but with the most jointly were Julie McKeaveney and Emilie-Jo Griffiths.

Da iawn Lottie a Meinir

ADDRODIAD CYMRAEG

Ar Ddydd Sadwrn Ebrill 29ain teithiodd 2il dîm Clwb Hoci Bangor lawr i Abertawe ar gyfer Rownderfynol Cwpan Sialens Hoci Cymru i chwarae 3ydd tîm Medics Caerdydd.

Ar ddiwrnod poeth cafodd Bangor gychwyn da gyda pasio a symud gwych oedd wedi creu cyfleoedd gwych i sgorio gan Meinir.

Roedd pwysau Bangor wedi talu’i ffordd gyda gôl gwych gan Amelie. Parhaodd Bangor i rheoli’r gêm ac yn teimlo’n rhwystredig nad oedd mwy o goliau wedi dilyn.

Ni lwyddodd Medics Caerdydd adael hanner eu hunain oherwydd gwaith amddiffynol gwych gan Fangor yng nghanol cae. Roedd sgiliau rheoli’r gêm gan Fangor wedi talu’i ffordd am yr ail waith gyda gôl teuluol y Culleys – Rhian yn pasio’r bêl o’r crfn a Nia yn torri mewn o’r asgell i sgorio.

Yn yr ail hanner, gyda’r tywydd yn poethi, cychwynodd Cardiff Medics i ddod mewn i’r gêm ond prin oedd eu cyfleoedd gwirioneddol.

Cafodd Bangor gyfle arall i adio i’r sgôr gyda Nicci yn dod yn agos ond gwnaeth gôl geidwad Medics Caerdydd arbediad gwych.
Gorffenwyd y gêm yn gryf gan Fangor, enillwyd y gêm o ddwy gôl i ddim i guro’r Gwpan!! 2-0!!

Well done Young Ambassador of the Year Rhys Culley (right)

“Diolch i bawb oedd wedi teithio lawr i Abertawe i gefnogi, Rhys i hyfforddi (Da iawn am gael dy wobr Llysgenad y Flwyddyn hefyd!), i Rhian am drefnu ac i’r Rheolwr Elite a’r dreifar bws Keith!”

Chwaraewr y gêm:
Nifer o bledleisiau ar gyder Amelie, Nia a Lottie, ond gyda’r nofer mwyaf o bledleisiau ar y cŷd, ein chwaraewyr y gêm ar gyfer y Rownd Derfynol oedd JULIE ag EMILIE-JO
