What a cracking advert for Wrexham area football this was.
Before the day’s action started, a vastly-improved Lex XI versus cup kings Queen’s Park had a real eye-catching look to it.
And so it proved, with the battle going all the way to spot-kicks and the Park coming out on top.
A fantastic match for the neutral, Dave Evans’ side showed their never-say-die qualities by getting equalisers in the 95th minute in normal time and a 121st minute penalty in extra time to send the tie to a shoot-out.
An end to end encounter, the game was goalless until the 67th minute when the deadlock was finally broken by Fin Dyer who tapped in Ethan Simpson’ s perfect cross to send the pavilion into raptures.
Tony Jones then equalised in the last kick of the game for Queen’s Park.
Extra time came, which saw a red card for the Park. This gave Lex the upper hand and substitute Alan Huxley delivered the hosts a 2-1 lead with his 21st goal of the season.
Again in the last moment of the added 30, the Park levelled from the penalty spot through Liam Davies.
Two excellent saves from goalkeeper Josh Edwards in the penalties contest gave Queen’s Park their place in the next round.
The Quay needed an extra time penalty from John Coady to finally see off the challenge of Championship Division warriors Ruabon.
Leighton Kendrick gave the visitors an eighth-minute lead from a Dan Kebell assist.
Owen Edwards brought the teams level with a 23rd minute strike.
Town suffered a blow on 75 minutes when they had Kyle Amos red-carded, but despite having a man less, the North East Wales League Premier Division leaders saw it out till the 90 and Coady’s spot-kick on 97 was sufficient to win the tie.
A narrow defeat to last season’s tier-four champions saw Gronant exit in the quarter-finals of the Mike Beech.
An early Luke Elden goal, assisted by Dylan Taylor, got cancelled out late in the first half when Lewis Williams equalised.
Connor Hughes then edged the visitors in front on the hour with an excellent goal.
Despite being reduced to 10 men when Ryan Jones was shown a second yellow card on 81 minutes, Greenfield clung on for the victory.
Kieran Jones put the Yellers in command with goals on 12 and 29 minutes at Estadio de Mark Lopez.
Matthew Robinson added a third before the break to all but kill the contest.
No further goals until the 79th minute when Iwan Rogers made it 4-0.
Former Flint Mountain star Jack Aitken struck twice for new club Mynydd Isa in Saturday’s win at Snowden Avenue.
Jordan Walker converted a penalty for the hosts and Kobie Betts notched a fourth goal.
All this after Nathan Roberts had given Coedpoeth a 16th-minute lead.
Nathan Lavender (2), Edward Brown and Nathan Griffith delivered the goals that matters, but Brymbo put up a good battle, Thomas Booth and captain Sam Henry their marksmen.
Jack Smallman’s 89th minute equaliser rescued leaders Caerwys’ unbeaten record.
Andrew Bithell and Michael Pugh were on target for free-scoring Acton, while Matthew Gilsenan was the other marksman for the visitors, eight points clear in first place.
Alex Williams and Christopher Bush nabbed the first-half goals which clinched the points for Overton.
All-square at Wat’s Dyke Way.
Aaron North and a late leveller from Luke Owen booked a point for Sychdyn, Thomas Beacher and Johnny Crossley giving Rangers an interval 2-1 lead.
Kacper Wojciech hit a hat-trick for Alun, Charles Osian Jones also on the mark.
Goals from Jamie Williams and Joshua Lancaster won it for Coedy, Kieran Edwards keeping Llay in the hunt.
Ryan Lancelotte, Sean Price and Daniel Parry sealed three points for the leaders.
Oliver Derosa and Ifan Tudor Jones put Ruthin two-up before a 76th minute response from Dion Davies gave Greenfield hope.
