What an amazing day for North Wales women’s football.
THREE of our teams defeated Adran Premier League opposition in the last 16 of the Genero Adran Trophy.
Rosie Hughes scored SIX as Wrexham whipped Premier bottom side Abergavenny 7-1, Amber Lightfoot also on target.
Connah’s Quay Nomads came away from Barry Town United, one off the bottom of the top flight, 3-2 winners thanks to goals from Tamara Hamer, Kylie Jones and a Kirstie Kural penalty.
However, the most remarkable result was Llandudno’s 2-1 success in Swansea City, Adran Premier champions for the past three seasons and currently second in the table.
This was Tudno’s first ever win over one of the so-called ‘big three’ – Cardiff Met University, Cardiff City and Swansea.
Indie Hassall and Kelsey Davies notched the second-half goals which secured perhaps the biggest-ever win for a North Wales women’s team against South Wales opposition.
Elsewhere, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 put up a really spirited performance in a 5-0 home loss to Adran Trophy holders Cardiff Met.
