Last weekend Holyhead-based striker saw Asa Thomas reach the remarkable milestone of 600 senior goals.

More than 200 of those have come for his current club – Trearddur Bay.

Club secretary CHRIS DAVIES asked Asa a quick 10 questions about his achievement which was published on the Trearddur Bay FC Facebook page on Monday.

Thanks to Chris for giving Grassroots North Wales permission to use it.

1. Can you remember your first senior goal?

First senior goal was in a quarter-final, coming on for my debut for Holyhead Gwelfor in the last 15 minutes to equalise in a game we won 2-1.

2. What has been your most important goal?

One of the great Asa images from the lens of DENNIS YOUNG. This was taken in the 2015-16 season at Lon Isallt when Bay won the Welsh Alliance title at the first attempt and Asa netted 36 league goals and 48 in all competitions

Most important would be the two I scored in a 2-0 win away to Abergele in the last game of the season to win the Welsh Alliance League title for Trearddur Bay (2015-16).

3. What’s your most memorable season?

The 2010-11 quadruple winners

Would have to be the season we won the quadruple with Trearddur Bay (2010-11 – Anglesey League title, Dargie Cup, Megan Cup and Thomas and Williams Cup. Asa scored 112 goals in 47 appearances).

4. Your best/favourite goal?

Best goal I’ve scored would be in the North Wales Junior Cup Final against Point of Ayr where I took on 3 defenders and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

5. Who have you enjoyed playing up top with as a strike partner?

The much-celebrated Jackie Welsh (light blue). Picture: DAVE McCANN

I’ve played with so many good strikers over the years so I would say I have a few favourites such as Jackie Welsh, Gary Jo Owen, Melvin McGinness, Marc Evans (Logs) and Brett Barker.

6. What’s your next goal target?

Future goal tally now is 700 goals.

7. Who’s your idol as far as strikers are concerned?

Would have to be Fernando Torres. I used to watch videos of his goals every single day when I was growing up.

8. Who’s the best defender you’ve played against?

Alex Jones

Best defender I’ve played against would be Alex Jones of Holyhead Hotspur. I’ve only played against him a couple of times but he would definitely be the best. He can read the game so well and is a solid defender.

9. Who’s the best GK you’ve faced?

Best goalkeeper I’ve played against would be Ben Heald, such a brilliant keeper. I’ve scored a couple past him over the years but he is the stand out one for me.

10. Who do you consider your bogey team?

Aberffraw used to be a bogey team of mine where I wasn’t confident before the game that I was gonna score against them and I always found it hard to.
