Thursday’s Battle of the Bays between two teams expected to challenge for the title ended all-square.

Both sides were unbeaten and remained so after a hard-fought contest at School Lane.

A reported 300-plus crowd were in attendance and Cemaes enjoyed the perfect start when their main danger man Matt Reynolds showed great composure to deliver a second-minute lead.

Just past the half-hour, Nick Dumbarton’s Trearddur were level when a long ball over the defence found Asa Thomas, who drilled in his 14th goal of the season with a great finish from the edge of the box.

Cemaes produced some great football, hitting the goal frame twice, but at the interval it remained 1-1.

And perhaps surprisingly for these two prolific net-finding teams, there was no further score after the break.

Home stopper Dan Jones performed marvels to deny Marc Evans a winner from close range, while Konner Druce in the Trearddur goal brilliantly kept out Cian Owen’s effort.

Cemaes’ substitute Matty Roberts also went close late on, but there was to be no decider on the night.
