Divisions Three and Four – 10-wicket wins for Pont and Brymbo, another Tom King ton for Corwen

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISIONS 3 AND 4 REPORTS – AUG 13

DIVISION THREE

Abergele 2nd XI (15) 25-1 Pwllheli 2nd XI (0) 23-10

A match which took less than 16 overs in total to complete saw Abergele seconds ease to a nine-wicket win over seven-player Pwllheli seconds.

The visitors decided to bat and were all out for 23 in 11.1 overs, Christopher Clarke 2-0 for Ajesh Joseph 2-7 for the hosts.

Gele cruised to 25-1 off 28 balls, Anthony Howe 12 not out.

Bethesda 2nd XI (11) 154-9 Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (4) 153-8

Gethin Hughes’ 76 not out proved crucial for a Bethesda seconds side which triumphed by one wicket in the final over against Quay seconds.

The Deeside visitors set 153-8 off 40 overs, skipper Andy Tilley a commanding 72 no, while Ryan Williams took 4-44 and Sopan Patil 2-40 for Pesda.

The hosts squeezed home on 154-9 in 39.2 overs, Hughes’ unbeaten 76 including 13 fours, Tilley taking 3-30 and Adam Campbell 3-35 for the away side.

Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (2) 96-10 Denbigh 2nd XI (13) 97-4

James Tilley scooped 4-25 and Josh Jones 3-7 as Denbigh seconds dismissed hosts Gwersyllt for just 96.

The visitors hit back with 97-4 for a 13-2 success, openers Daniel Nixon and Jon Eccles 28 and 23 respectively.

Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn (0) 99-10 Brymbo 2nd XI (15) 103-0

Top of the table Brymbo seconds were again in unstoppable form as they celebrated a 10-wicket rout at Argoed.

Put into bat, Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn were all removed for 99, Ross Roberts 4-22, Wayne Smith 2-18 and Gareth Pugh 2-29.

Brymbo raced to 103-0 in just 16 overs, Joss Roberts 47 no and Pugh 43 no.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (15) 75-0 Buckley 2nd XI (0) 74-10

Ryan White snapped up 5-16 and Daz Wilcock 3-23 as Pont dismissed Buckley for just 74, Jack Gibson the highest contributor with 30 runs.

Skipper Richard Davies (39 no) and Nick Thomas (27 no) guided the hosts to a winning 75-0 in just 18.1 overs.

Ruthin 2nd XI (12) 179-7 Conwy 2nd XI (3) 177-5

Half-centuries from Oliver Jones and Ifan Hanifa did most to ensure Ruthin seconds celebrated victory.

Conwy seconds opted to bat and made a decent 177-5 off 40 overs, skipper Carwyn Thomas hitting 48, Lewis Jones 44 and Toby Watson 42 no, Paul Threlfall 2-16 and Richard Henderson 2-33 for the home side.

Victorious Ruthin made it to 178-7 in 38.5, Jones (57) and Hanifa (56) sharing a vital 107 stand for the second wicket.

David Owen took 3-29 for Conwy seconds.

DIVISION FOUR

Llandudno 2nd XI (15) 90-1 Hawarden Park 3rd XI (0) 87-10

Llandudno seconds clinched at least runners-up spot in Division Four with a nine-wicket home win over Hawarden Park thirds.

Osbourne Allen top-scored with 39 as the visitors were bowled out for 87, Andrew Christian taking 3-18 and Tom Bleasdale 2-19.

Tudno cantered to 90-1 in 14.3 overs, Jamie Grimshaw cracking 46 not out off just 22 balls, including nine fours.

Bersham 2nd XI (2) 127-10 Halkyn 2nd XI (13) 128-5

Bersham’s Santhu Kj produced the top match score of 69, but his team were beaten by five wickets at the hands of Halkyn seconds.

The hosts were all out for 127, Gareth Thomas snaring 2-12 off nine and Anthony Green 2-26 for the visitors.

Halkyn replied with 128-5 in 26.5, Gareth Thomas 43 not out, Gavin Manuel 3-24 for the home team.

Dolgellau 2nd XI (0) 29-10 Corwen (15) 272-5

Tom King’s third century of the season for Corwen raised his overall total to just six short of 500 runs from nine innings at an average of 70.57.

King hit 112 at The Marian, sharing an opening stand of 189 with John Wildman (53) as the already-promoted visitors piled up 272-5 off 40 overs after being put into bat.

Iwan Parry nabbed 2-31 for Dolgellau seconds, who were then rolled over for a paltry 29, Gareth Rigden bagging a career best 8-12, Simon Harrison 2-13.

Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nd XI (1) 103-10 Carmel and District 2nd XI (14) 189-4

Jonathan Fisher (44) and John Hewitt (40 no) were the leading run-getters as Carmel seconds posted a winning 189-4 at Marchwiel Hall.

Skipper Cameron Ackroyd and Steven Jones both added 25 apiece in a good, consistent batting effort.

Steven Skates then grabbed 3-38 and Caleb Spencer 2-9 as the hosts were all out for 103, Zahid Sharif 36 and Mike Lee 33.
