Jason Foulkes keeps place in winning Wales side

St Asaph all-rounder Jason Foulkes keeps his place in the Wales squad for this weekend’s NCCA Division 2 Championship clash away to Shropshire.

Foulkes enjoyed a winning debut last week as the Welsh overcame Devon by just five runs in a three-day thriller at Abergavenny.

The Saints paceman bowled really well in the visitors’ first innings, taking 1-29 off 11 overs.

Team-mate Brad Wadlan took centre stage in the batting and bowling as Wales went on to win a nail-biting contest.

Foulkes’ three-day Wales debut followed other outings representing his country in the T20 and 50-Over formats this summer.

Against Devon, Wales recovered from 121-6 on day one to 255 all out, Swansea’s 33-year-old all-rounder Wadlan making 100 and Josef Davies 54.

In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 194, Wadlan following up his batting heroics with an amazing 6-18.

Wales were removed for 123 in their second innings, setting Devon a target of 185 to win.

That man Wadlan turned on the magic again, scooping 6-53 to make it match figures of 12-71 as the away side were dismissed for 179.

Next comes the challenge of Shropshire.

Play starts from 11am on Sunday at Oswestry and admittance is free.

Wales NC squad from: TR Bevan (St Fagans), HLR Friend (Newport), CR Brown (Lansdown), BL Wadlan (Swansea), MJ Bevans (Newport), AJ Horton (Newbridge/Newport), CL Herring+* (Pontarddulais), TD Phillips (Cardiff), SJ Pearce (Bridgend/Warminster), MO Subhan (Cardiff), JS Foulkes (St Asaph), TL Jones (Bridgend).
