Women’s cricket: Good wins for Llandudno and Colwyn Bay in Welsh Cup and league clashes

Women’s Hundred Ball Welsh Cup – Sunday, June 12

Llandudno 119-3 Carmel 58-6

Llandudno produced a good all-round display to take their place in the next round of the Welsh 100.

Jane Whittaker scored 17 and Olwen Kelly 15 as Tudno set 119-3 and Carmel were then limited to 58-6, Sophie Deering taking four wickets for the Seasiders.

Dolgellau 58-10 (net 8) Colwyn Bay 84-2 (net 74)

Jane Smith and Hannah Kennedy led the way with scores of 13 and 12 respectively as Colwyn Bay’s total in the Hundred proved way too much for Dolgellau.

Frieda Dimmer and Claire Dimmer took a wicket each for the hosts as the Bay racked up 84-2.

Dolgellau lost 10 wickets for their 58, meaning they ended up with a net total of 8 and were beaten by 66 runs.

Heledd Savage top-scored with 12 for the home side, while in the Bay bowling, Samantha Sherrington took four wickets and Hannah Kennedy three.

Colwyn Bay were impressive double winners over Dolgellau

Bay also convincingly won their same-day league match at The Marian on Sunday.

Put into bat, Dolgellau lost 12 wickets in scoring 81, Ffion Gittins 8, Bernie Conneely (12, once out, net 7) and Frieda Dimmer 7.

For the visitors, Samantha Sherrington took 3-11, Sue Wolfendale 2-15 and the rest were a mixture of single wicket-takers and run outs.

Colwyn cracked 132-1 off their 16 overs for a net 327, making it a 106-run victory.

Hannah Kennedy hit 22, Amy Kennedy 20, Sue Wolfendale 20, Kerry Roberts 12 and Jane Smith 11.
