Llangefni Town’s club captain for the past eight seasons has become the new first team manager at Lon Talwrn.
James Saxon takes over at the Anglesey-based tier 3 club from Chris Roberts, who stepped down recently after eight seasons in charge.
Unfortunately, Roberts’ final campaign at the helm ended with relegation from the second-tier Cymru North.
Cefni had won the Welsh Alliance League for a record fifth time in 2018-19. also landing the Cookson Cup under Roberts’ leadership.
Successor Saxon was deemed by the board of directors as the preferred option to take over the reins.
Saxon said: “As my playing career is coming to an end, I see this as an exciting opportunity to manage my hometown club which has already been a huge part of my life.
“Chris has done an outstanding job for the last 8 years and it is now a privilege to have been given this fantastic opportunity to build on the foundations that he has built.
“The club is an integral part of the community and I want to ensure that we progress and develop even further on and off the field to give the town a club they are proud of.
“I’m looking forward to walking out of the changing room, in front of our loyal fans as the manager of Llangefni and will give this job a 100% to make sure we are successful.“
