CPD Y Rhyl 1879 5 (Tegan Crockett 4, Candice Nellist)

Teenager Tegan Crockett enjoyed her finest achievement yet in a senior game as she scored four times in Sunday’s top of the table clash at Lon Bach.

The 17-year-old made it 12 goals in all competitions this term as 1879 strengthened their hold on top spot in the North Wales League.

Now unbeaten in all 14 league matches this term, Darren Wardle’s side are five points clear, although second-place NFA have a game in hand.

Amlwch had held 1879 to a draw at Belle Vue earlier in the campaign, but the return game was nowhere near as close.

Despite the scoreline, however, two competitive sides really went at it and Town proved they are more than worthy of their high placing.

Candice Nellist put the visitors in front on 15 minutes with her 23rd league goal of the season and it remained 1-0 up to half time.

Crockett doubled the away lead two minutes into the second half, but on 70 minutes Shannon Thomas gave Amlwch hope by making it 2-1.

The next goal would be crucial and it was 1879 who delivered it, Crockett on target in the 77th minute.

Crockett completed her hat-trick on 86 and added another a minute later before Shannon Thomas bagged her second – and 10th goal of the season – for the islanders in stoppage time.
