The most prolific winning run in UK non-league football is finally over – but what a ride it has been.
Bodedern Athletic’s stunning streak of 18 successive league victories ended at Mynydd Llandegai, where the final score was 1-1.
It brought to a close an unbelievable record which put the Anglesey village club top of the Global League Stats table, published by the Non-League Matters website.
Despite today’s result, Athletic are still unbeaten in the league and remain top of the North Wales Coast West Premier Division table.
While Boded deserve all the praise in the world for their feat, a big hand too to Mynydd Llandegai, who finally found a way to stop Ricky Williams’ islanders winning.
With the wind behind them in the first half, Bodedern had loads of chances, but for once struggled to convert.
Mynydd keeper Marc Jones produced a tremendous treble save at one point. Jordan Taylor hit the bar with a free kick and Asa Thomas had a goal chalked off for offside.
Llandegai were dangerous on the counter attack and took the lead on 28 minutes with good combination play from Osian Jones and Kieran Freeman-Jones creating a chance.
Freeman-Jones’ shot/cross was deflected in by Bodedern captain, Casey Boylan.
Boylan made up for that disappointment by getting the equaliser in first half stoppage time.
In the second half, Mynydd were playing with the wind and threatened often.
However, there were no further goals and it ended all-square.
Mynydd manager Huw Davies said: “If I’m honest, we should have taken the three points today. Boded were lucky to escape with a point.
“I was disappointed with the ref – we played 12 minutes injury time in total without any real stoppages
“Pij Morris, Marc Jones and Osian Jones standout performers for us. Marc was man of the match for the important saves he made in the first half.”

Llanrug United 0 Bangor 1876 2

Two second-half goals from captain Les Davies secured 1876 the win that moved them to within two points of leaders Bodedern having played a game more.
Davies, who recently reached 50 goals for the club, moved up to 30 for the current campaign with his double at Eithin Duon.

Menai Bridge Tigers 0 CPD Nefyn United 7

No mercy from Nefyn at the Bridge where Carl Jones, Tomi Evans (2), Ifan Jones (2, 1 pen), Dafydd Jones and Guto Roberts shared the goals for the third-place side.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 5 CPD Pentraeth 1

Two goals apiece from Cai Henshaw and Steven Jones, who also missed a penalty, and a Tom Hughes spot-kick sealed a comfortable home win.
Kane Roberts replied for the visitors.

CPD Pwllheli 1 Glantraeth 0

Gwyn Williams’ 39th minute goal was enough to bring Pwllheli a narrow victory over their Anglesey visitors.

DIVISION ONE

Bodorgan 1 Llanystumdwy 2

Two first-half goals from player-manager Sion Parry moved him up to 37 for the season and secured all three points for the visitors.
As per usual, Bodorgan made it tough for the travelling side and Tom Innes replied for them on 72 minutes.

Bontnewydd 4 Llangoed and District 0

Alex Kalafusz (2), Ianto ap Rhun and substitute Sion Roberts bagged the goals which booked the points for Bont, Llangoed’s woes added to by the 49th minute red card for Nathaniel Evans.

CPD Llannerchymedd 4 CPD Y Fali 2

Gethin Davies (2), Chris Bennett and Gwion Thomas ensured Llannerchymedd defeated improving Y Fali 4-2, Cai Miller and Owain Roberts the away marksmen.

Llanfairpwll 2 Caergybi 1

Llanfairpwll bounced back from the disappointment of their Junior Cup exit seven days earlier by beating Caergybi 2-1 at Maes Eilian, Josh Roberts and Jay Finter on the mark for the hosts after Glenn North had put the visitors in front.

CPD Mountain Rangers 2 Bethesda Athletic 4

Leaders Bethesda triumphed at Cae Gors, Kieron Bullock, Joe Todd (pen), Osian Hughes and an Elis Hughes own goal clinching the points.
Dewi Cooke netted both for the home side.
