North Wales Coast West League reports – February 5

DIVISION ONE

CPD Llannerchymedd 2 (M Jones 3, H Jones OG 50)
Waunfawr 3 (Roberts 40 & 77, A Jones 89)

A last-minute goal from Waunfawr’s Adam Jones sent Llannerchymedd tumbling to their first defeat in 16 league games and put a dent in the Anglesey side’s title hopes.

Things started well for Meirion Grieves’ home team, Mark Jones coolly slotting in from a Llion Vaughn Jones cross after just three minutes.

The visitors equalised before the break, Shaun Roberts pouncing on a fumble by keeper Kenny Hughes.

The second half started as the first. Llan’s Ben Hughes attacked down the right and let rip with a blistering shot that was deflected into the net by Beganifs player Hywel Jones.

Waunfawr levelled in the 77th minute as Roberts completed his brace.

The blustery conditions played their part in this scrappy affair but the visiting team looked like they wanted it more than the home side.

With a minute left of normal time, the inevitable happened. Waun pounced as the static Llannerchymedd players claimed there had been an infringement, Jones slotting home the match-winner.

Bethesda Athletic 8
CPD Mountain Rangers 3

16-year-old Noa Hughes scored a hat-trick to move onto 11 goals for the season

Eight straight wins which has seen them amass 39 goals and six points clear in Division One – Bethesda are on a great run of form.

Saturday’s 8-3 beating of Mountain Rangers saw Noa Hughes notch a hat-trick, Daniel Hughes and Kyle Hartleb deliver doubles and Osian Hughes also found the target.

Aled Rice (2) and Dion Owen responded for the visitors.

Holyhead Town 2
Llanfairpwll 1

The Harbourmen made it three straight wins in 2022 thanks to a 96th minute decider from Dan Lewis.

Mike Williams handed Holyhead a 41st minute lead when he capitalised on a Kaine Bentley assist.

It stayed 1-0 until five minutes into stoppage time, when Carwyn Roberts equalised for Llanfairpwll.

But almost immediately, Ryan Heywood set up Lewis for the winner which lifts Holyhead out of the bottom four. Dramatic stuff!

Llangoed and District 0
Talysarn Celts 6

Luke Baum was a five-goal hero for Talysarn at Tyddyn Paun.

The 20-year-old striker boosted his total for the season to 28 – 24 in the league – at the expense of outgunned Llangoed.

Rhodri Jones added a single for the fourth-place Celts.

Llanystumdwy 1
Caergybi 4

Man of the match Myles Jones struck twice for Caergybi in an impressive away win.

Jones scored on 44 and 83 minutes, with Tom Hadley and Tom Scott providing the other goals for Dale Moffat’s men.

Substitute Sion Parry notched a late reply for Llan from the penalty spot – the player-manager’s 33rd goal of the season.

CPD Gaerwen 0
Menai Bridge Tigers 3

Menai Bridge must have been wondering what a football pitch still looked like before taking the field at Lon Groes on Saturday.

Aaron Rowlands’ side had not previously kicked a ball since winning 2-0 at Glantraeth on December 11 – eight weeks ago.

However, they were soon back into the groove as goals from Craig Roberts, Callum Davidson and Callum Graves ensured Tigers made it nine league games without a loss, which includes eight wins – 25 points out of the last 27 possible.

CPD Nefyn United 1
CPD Mynydd Llandegai 0

Master marksman Carl Jones

Llŷn Peninsula all-time great Carl Jones scored the only goal in the 71st minute of Saturday’s clash at Cae’r Delyn.

The three points maintain Nefyn’s hold on fifth spot in the Premier, with a trip to Menai Bridge to come this Friday.

CPD Pentraeth 1
Gwalchmai 2

Alex Cooper and Dion Owen (penalty) sealed Gwalchmai a narrow victory at next-to-bottom Pentraeth.

Tomos Llyr Williams had put the home side in front in the opening minute at Bryniau Field.
