Women’s football – huge cup tests for Pwllheli and Llandudno, Nomads aim for top spot

ARDAL TROPHY KNOCKOUT STAGE (ROUND OF 16)

CPD Pwllheli v Cardiff City FC Women

It promises to be a tough test for a Pwllheli side which has lost their last four matches when they welcome Genero Adran Premier high-flyers Cardiff to the Llŷn tomorrow.
The North Wales team was on fire earlier in the season, but has suffered a drop in form. They will be aiming to raise their game and earn a shock qualification for the quarter-finals.

Cardiff Met v Llandudno

Back in their Welsh Premier days Llandudno never managed a victory over the Cardiff Met students and will have their work out to create an upset at Cyncoed.
Met are second in the Adran Premier and very much among the favourites to win the Adran Trophy.
Llandudno are top of the tier 2 Genero Adran North and possess some quality, experienced players, but tomorrow’s tie is a whole new ball game.

GENERO ADRAN NORTH (2 pm)

Airbus UK Broughton v Connah’s Quay Nomads

Nomads can return to the Genero Adran North summit tomorrow with a victory at Airbus.
Jordan Parry’s side have already beaten the Wingmakers twice this season – 8-0 at home in the league and 1-0 away in the Welsh Cup.

Denbigh Town v Llanfair United

The bottom two meet at Central Park with Llanfair aiming to repeat November’s 6-0 triumph over Denbigh.
Town have shown plenty of fight in recent games and a repeat of the type of display which saw them lose just 3-1 to Airbus could ensure another close contest against their Powys visitors.

Wrexham v Bethel

Third-place Wrexham will be out for revenge after suffering an 8-3 hammering at Bethel early in the campaign.
The Reds are in great form, having won five league games on the bounce, while Bethel have suffered from a distinct lack of games in recent weeks.
Rosie Hughes is in awesome touch for Wrexham, having netted 19 league goals – the most in Adran North – and 29 in all competitions.
Bethel have lethal finishers of their own in Fflur Williams, Mari Gibbard and Ffion Williams.

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE (2 pm)

Llanystumdwy v CPD Y Rhyl 1879

Undefeated Rhyl will regain top spot if they can get a win at Dwyfor Park.
Llanystumdwy have proved more than capable of causing an upset this season, their first in the league.

NFA v Northop Hall

Depending on results elsewhere, NFA could also finish Sunday at the summit.
Andy Lloyd’s side will target a repeat of their 3-1 Welsh Cup win over Northop Hall back in September.
The Hall are a more than useful side, having recent earned an away draw at title hopefuls Rhyl 1879.

Welshpool Town v Trearddur Bay

Two teams in the bottom three clash at Maesydre.
Welshpool can give any a severe examination, particularly at home, but Bay will make the long journey to Powys determined to start 2022 on a positive note.
Has all the makings of a close battle.
