Bangor 1876 need two late goals to settle hard fought derby

BANGOR 1876 3 (Chris Jones 47, Jamie Petrie 83, Corey Jones 84)
MENAI BRIDGE TIGERS 1 (Dean Redmond 78)

Two late goals from 1876 finally killed off the strong challenge of neighbours Menai Bridge in tonight’s North Wales Coast West Premier Division tier 4 derby.

The home team eventually made it eight straight wins this season in the league to remain high in the table, but it was tough against the Tigers.

The first half was goalless, raising Menai hopes that they could become the first team ever to take a league point off 1876.

However, Chris Jones’ 13th goal of the season two minutes into the second half put the hosts on their way.

Menai refused to fold and there was great joy in the away camp when Dean Redmond equalised on 78 minutes.

Was Bangor 1876’s winning streak in league encounters about to end at the 24th time of asking?

The answer was no. Jamie Petrie made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute and not long after Corey Jones sealed the points.
