Midfielder and new Colwyn Bay signing Ellie Sandiford chooses North Wales Dream Team 24 today.
Ellie, 21, has been a consistent player and goalscorer for Connah’s Quay Nomads and Prestatyn in recent seasons, having earlier represented Kinmel Bay Girls and Rhyl Academy.
She follows previous ‘managers’ Carol Lewis, Ceryl Jones, Paige Williams (Amlwch), Tegan Hewitt, Alaw Davies-Smith, Nia Wyn Ellis, Annmarie Jones, Fflur Williams, Chelsea Evans, Abby Williams, Gwenno Gibbard Bolton, Lexi Crawley, Claire Colville, Cerys Gadd, Libby McClelland, Meinir Thomas, Erica Jones, Rachel Roberts, Beca Williams, Mari Gibbard, Emily Jones, Cara Wyn Hughes and Catrin Wyn Thomas.
Although I haven’t played against Airbus for the past few seasons, I’ve participated in a few of their training sessions and Shaunie was a nightmare to try to score past. A really good keeper, very good at distributing the ball and calm when the ball is at her feet.
No words to describe Dutton, very solid at the back and such a leader! Always passes confidence through the team when she’s playing. The best defender I’ve played with for sure, very talented.
Always a joy to play with Ash, not so much playing against her though. Sometimes plays midfield as well but no matter where she plays she definitely is an impact player. Creates chances, has great knowledge on the pitch, always gets stuck in and gives her all.
Plays in midfield mainly but is a very solid player, not scared to put in a tackle and good in the air.
Ability to place passes and assist goals, she has assisted me many times whilst playing at Prestatyn also been on the scoresheet herself a few times.
Quality player, so calm under pressure, has a really good awareness of where people are and who is around her. Able to pick out accurate passes, no matter how far, can also put the ball in the back of the net as well. Great asset to any team.
Played alongside Shan whilst at Prestatyn and Nomads, a very skillful player, frustrating to play against.
Done me over in training many times, she’s scored some cracking goals! Very pacey as well, always remember the free kick she scored against TNS.
Always dreaded playing against Llanfair. Many great players, but Mary definitely stands out every time, so good on the ball.
Used to fear playing against Boo until she came to Nomads and we were on the same side. No one does it like Boo, ability to shoot from anywhere on the pitch, the power she has is unstoppable at times. Always gives 100% when playing.
Watched Tegan play a few times, confident player, never scared to take on a defender, pacey and has a great shot on her.
Top striker for me one of the best I’ve played against. Hardly misses the target, fast, ability to get past defenders, very good with the ball at her feet, complete striker.
A player hard not to notice, recently played against her for Nomads, never gives up, scored a really nice free kick against us. Has a lot of skills in her bag, a player that will only get better.
