Local author, football memorabilia collector and nostalgia enthusiast Mark Jones has unearthed a photo of a mystery football team he hopes Grassroots North Wales readers can help him identify.
Over to Mark:
“Can any of your readers help me identify this team please ?
“I found the picture while clearing some files up, I know it is from the 1950’s, was taken at Belle Vue, Rhyl, and is very probably a Welsh League (North) team but it’s NOT Rhyl FC as a Lilywhites player in a familiar white and black strip can be seen warming up prior to kick off on the right of the photo.
“In black and white the playing strip could obviously be any colour! Maybe blue, possibly red or even green or gold.
“Could the socks offer a clue as in the front row, some players have plain socks with white tops and others hooped socks with plain tops…
“I would very much like to know who these guys are so I’ll hand it over to the detectives among your readership.”
Anyone who can help please send an e-mail to dave@nwsport.co.uk or if any of you follow me on social media please drop me a message. Many thanks as always.
