Conwy Boro 2 (Whelan, Williams)
Holyhead Hotspur 4 (Morris, Jones, Parry, Gibbs)
Friendly match – November 13, 2020

Hotspur returned to action at last and enjoyed a fine result in a friendly at fellow Cymru North side Conwy.

With only 12 players allowed due to Covid restrictions, manager Darren Garmey took a strong side to Y Morfa, which included new signings Melvin McGinness, Liam Morris, Jay Gibbs and Cai Powell Roberts.

Holyhead dictated most of the play from kick off without creating too much in the final third and were troubled a couple of times with balls over the top of the defence from Conwy, but each time keeper Carl Jones was equal to any danger.

Midway through the first half Liam Morris put Hotspur ahead with a lovely curling effort and it stayed 1-0 to the break.

On 64 minutes Borough equalised with a superbly struck free kick from Craig Whelan.

After that a towering header from Alex Jones, good finish from close range by Deian Parry and a thunderbolt from Jay Gibbs put the visitors 4-1 up.

Late on the hosts claimed a consolation when Meilir Williams beat Jones with a fine lob.

Hotspur squad: Carl Jones, Alex Jones, Luke Roberts, Cai Powell Roberts, Dan McGinness, Corey Jones, Dean Garmey, Jay Gibbs, Liam Morris, Chris Jones, Mel McGinness, Deian Parry.

Thanks to Barry Roberts for match details
