We interrupt this worldwide pandemic to bring you a local football report.
Yes, that is not a misprint!
Tonight saw Maes Tegid, Bala, host a friendly between Llanuwchllyn and Llanystumdwy.
Tier 3 Ardal North West met Tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One in a contest which finished 6-0 to the higher-ranked Llanuwchllyn.
Tom Watkin, Sam Evans (2), Rob John, Iwan Roberts and Iolo Gwyn shared the goals for the winning side, who were playing their first match in nine months.
The game stood 0-0 at half time, but after the break Llanuwchllyn stepped up a gear.
The Bala-area team were without some new signings from the Corwen area, who are in local lockdown.
Llanuwchllyn spokesman Dei John Watkin Jones said: “It was nice for the lads to have some sort of game.
“It was all a bit surreal, no corner flags and no throw-ins, so every time the ball went out of play it was like a free kick from the touchline, but at least it was 90 minutes for the lads.”
Llanuwchllyn have another friendly on Wednesday night when Tywyn-Bryncrug are the opposition.
While competitive Tier 1 matches are permitted in Wales – albeit behind closed doors – no action has yet started in tiers 2 to 5 due to Covid-19, apart from intra-club and now inter-club friendlies.
