Popular Saltney Town manager steps down

Andy Dutton has stepped down as Saltney Town manager

Saltney Town’s popular manager Andy Dutton has stepped down due to family commitments.

Dutton took over as first-team boss of the tier 3 Ardal North West club in July 2018 after a spell as assistant.

Prior to that he managed FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay for five months in 2016-17.

As a player, Dutton turned out for Connah’s Quay Nomads, Holywell Town and Flint Town United.

He went onto to become the manager of Lache FC, where he was very successful and won 14 trophies during a five-year reign before joining FC Nomads.

A statement from Saltney Town said: “It’s with huge regret that we have reluctantly accepted the resignation of Andy Dutton from the post of first team manager due to family commitments.

“It’s a measure of this fantastic man that alongside his own family’s needs, he cited his other family at the club, and not wanting to risk any adverse effect on the players by not being able to give his 100% commitment, as a factor in his decision to step down.

“When Dutt joined us it was to act as a part-time mentor and help to Jake Gibbons. He steps down as one of the Town’s favourite sons.

Passionate doesn’t even come close to describe Dutt’s outlook on this club, and it’s our huge hope he will remain where he belongs as an important part of this Saltney Town, when the time is right.

“Dutt’s Wild Boys and his philosophy will no doubt remain strong at Sandy Lane.

“Further news will follow in due course, but for now – thank you Dutt for everything you have brought to the club.”
