Two goals four minutes apart late in the game set up Caernarfon for a well-deserved three points.

Although Richie Foulkes delivered a late reply for the Silkmen, it was the Canaries who secured the win which lifts them up to fifth.

The hosts dominated the first half, Michael Hayes missing a couple of clear chances, while Paulo Mendes forced a good save from John Danby.

At the other end, Flint were largely ineffective although ex-Cofi Nathan Craig did test Josh Tibbetts twice.

Conor Harwood fluffed a great opportunity to edge the visitors in front early in the second half.

Flint were much better after the break, Craig foiled by Tibbetts from long range while Wes Baynes went close.

It was a little against the run of play when on 73 minutes, a Noah Edwards shot arrived at the feet of Mendes, who finished clinically.

Four minutes later it was 2-0, Mendes threading a lovely pass into Cai Jones, who turned sharply, worked the ball onto his left foot and slotted home smartly.

Foulkes’ late response was not enough for the away team to avoid defeat.

Bala Town were 2-0 up against The New Saints, but the former champions recovered to make it 2-2 before the match was abandoned in the 88th minute because of floodlight failure.

Chris Venables struck first on 17 minutes for the Lakesiders and a Jon Routledge own goal made it two just before the half time.

Just after the hour came an early contender for goal of the season.

Leo Smith latched onto the ball inside his own half, cruised past a defender and chipped keeper Alex Ramsay with an absolute stunner from 25 yards.

In the 87th minute Ryan Astles lashed in from an angle to level, and soon after the lights went out – game abandoned.

The result should stand, according to the rules.

Champions Connah’s Quay Nomads overcame Aberystwyth Town 2-0, John Disney scoring first with a 10th minute penalty before Aeron Edwards netted on 29.

On Tuesday night, Cefn Druids were beaten 4-1 at Newtown, despite taking an early lead through a cracker from outside the box by Iwan Cartwright.
