Nathan Peate scrambled a late winner against his old club to secure Bala Town a 2-1 victory over Cefn Druids in the JD Cymru Premier League.

Will Evans volleyed the Lakesiders ahead before half time, but Naim Arsan levelled for the Ancients in the 64th minute.

Antony Kay was sent off in the 90th minute for Bala, but soon after Peate forced the ball home from a free kick delivered deep into the box.

Druids had Aaron Simpson red carded in the eighth added minute.

Kris Owens grabbed the vital winner for depleted Connah’s Quay Nomads as the champions got off the mark for the season by beating Penybont 1-0 at Deeside Stadium.

In the 32nd minute good work by Aeron Edwards set up Owens to drill home a left-footed strike.

The New Saints lead the table following a 2-0 home beating of Cardiff Met University.

Adrian Cieslewicz broke the deadlock on 44 minutes and a Liam Black own goal on the hour made sure of the points.

Saturday’s action saw Flint Town United defeated 3-1 at Aberystwyth Town despite the Silkmen taking a 32nd minute lead through Connor Harwood.

Jonathan Evans equalised just before half time, Mathew Jones converted a 49th minute penalty to make it 2-1 and Lee Jenkins added a third for the hosts.

Caernarfon Town trailed 3-0 at Barry Town United before a consolation goal from Mike Hayes ensured a 3-1 final scoreline at Jenner Park.
