My 5 best goals: Charley Davies (Llanberis)

Charley scores against Caernarfon

Charley Davies is the first female to take part in Grassroots North Wales’ My 5 Best Goals feature.

Men and women playing any standard in senior North Wales football are more than welcome to take part. Just send me some words to dave@nwsport.co.uk

1 Caernarfon Under-14’s 4 Bethel Under-14’s 3

It was my first game for Caernarfon U14’s and my first ever as a striker.

The score went back and forth and I scored another goal in this game.

But one of my best goals I’ve scored was a blast from halfway. I just chanced my luck and it ended up in the back of the net, over the keeper and we ended up winning 4-3.

2 NFA 3 Llanberis Ladies 2

Charley on the ball against NFA

Llanberis were 2-0 down, then pulled it back to 2-1 through Ffion Mair Roberts before we were awarded a free kick 30 yards out.

I saw a nice space in the top left-hand corner and struck the ball perfectly. It flew in, not giving the keeper a chance.

3 Llanberis Ladies 5 Caernafon Town 3

Charley (left – No 4) celebrates a goal for Llanberis

My first game for my new club and it was against the club I’d just left – Caernarfon.

First day of the 2019-20 season. Free kick opportunity and I took it. Curved into top right corner over the wall and we won 5-3 at the end.

4 Caernarfon Under-14’s v Bangor

A free kick against Bangor. From the far right sideline I took a gamble and went for goal.

Luckily the ball curved very nicely into the top left. I made it 2-0, and there were many more goals from me in this game, but this one stood out.

5 Wrexham Under-16’s v Caernarfon Under-16’s

Charley in her Caernarfon youth days (front row, third from right)

Back in my under-16 days for Caernarfon.

Despite being 9-0 down against Wrexham, we had a free kick from 40 yards and I decided to go for goal.

With power, it ended up going straight to the top right corner, the keeper couldn’t reach it, and it went to the back of the net.

We were well behind in the game, but at least that consolation goal gave us something to cheer about.
