NEW SERIES: My 5 best goals – Andy Clarke (Glantraeth)

Andy Clarke (red) in past action for Glantraeth

Andy Clarke has scored 301 goals in his senior football career.

A recent signing for Glantraeth FC, where he has enjoyed success in the past, he is one of the top marksmen in the Bangor area.

Andy, 32, has also played for Y Felinheli, Llanberis, Beaumaris, Bethesda, Arriva Bangor, Maes-y-Bryn and Menai Bridge Tigers.

Here, he chooses his top 5 goals in the third of Grassroots North Wales fun features.

1 Beaumaris Town v Holyhead Town

Favourite goal came against Holyhead Town back when I was playing for Beaumaris. I took on 3 players around the halfway line and ran towards goal, hit the ball from about 35 yards and it went into the top corner!

2 For Beaumaris

One of my very first goals for Beaumaris. Corner came in and was headed out to me on the edge of the box and I curled it into the top corner.

3 Beaumaris Town v Bethel

Another for Beaumaris in my first season for them. Dribbled from my own half past 5 players and slotted past the goalkeeper.

4 Y Felinheli v Barmouth and Dyffryn

Another would be my very first goal in senior football for Felinheli against Barmouth. Chipped the keeper from 30 yards out.

5 Hirael – Sunday League

One for fun is when I used to play Sunday League for Hirael. I was playing against a goalkeeper who is a family member (David Clarke) and I scored past him with a chip! Sure he didn’t speak to me for months after 😂😂
