Caernarfon Town have today announced a new signing, the return of a popular front man and news that a fans’ favourite is staying at the club.

The Canaries have signed Iddon Price from Porthmadog, welcomed back Cai Jones after a spell away from The Oval and retained the services of celebrated wide-man Danny Brookwell.

Price, 29, was a club captain at Port, where he was described as a highly effective uncompromising defender who distributes well from the back. He also occasionally played in midfield.

In October 2014 Price returned to Porthmadog, the club where he had previously been as a young player, from CPD Penrhyndeudraeth. He has also played for Nantlle Vale.

Caernarfon manager Huw Griffiths said: “Iddon has enjoyed six years at Y Traeth and is someone the club has been interested in for a number of seasons.

“We are delighted to have finally captured his signature and look forward to seeing him at The Oval.”

Cai Jones has agreed to return to the Canaries after a brief stint at Porthmadog.

The striker had previously played for Town under Lee Dixon and rejoined the club in summer 2018.

He scored Caernarfon’s first goal on their return to the Welsh Premier after a 10 year absence – the winner in a 1-0 victory over Cefn Druids – and netted eight in total during the season.

Due to personal circumstances, Cai decided to move back to Y Traeth in January.

A Caernarfon club statement said: “We know how popular Cai is with our supporters and we’re sure everyone is as pleased as Huw and his management staff that he will be back with us for next season.”

A native of Anglesey, Danny Brookwell played for island teams Llanfairpwll, Glantraeth and Menai Bridge Tigers before joining Caernarfon Town in 2015/16.

In the past five seasons, he has appeared in more than 150 first-team games for the Cofis and netted in the region of 40 goals.

Danny was a key member of the Town teams which won the Huws Gray Alliance title in 2015/16 and 2017/18.

Since Caernarfon’s return to the Welsh Premier, Brookwell has shone more than most.

The left-winger has dazzled spectators with his pace, skills, ability to take on and beat opposition defenders and score stunning goals, especially in the 2018/19 season.

Danny also played for the Royal Navy at under 19 and under 23 level.

He has twice represented the service at the Dallas Cup in Texas and in 2012 was nominated for the Royal Navy’s Young Sports Person of the Year award.
