Congratulations to Nomads Under-19’s – league champions!

Connah’s Quay Nomads Under-19’s have been confirmed as champions of the Cymru Premier Development North League.

Following consultation with the member clubs, the National Leagues Board yesterday confirmed the 2019/20 season in the Cymru Premier Development Leagues would be curtailed.

The Board also decided – without establishing a precedent – that the final tables in the North and South shall be updated using the ‘points per game’ model, for those matches that have not yet been played.

As a result, Connah’s Quay Nomads U19 have been named the winners of the Cymru North Development.

Huge congratulations to Gareth Richards, Richard Cusato, Antonio Magalhaes, Jordan Parry and the squad involved, who have performed fantastically throughout the 2019/20 campaign thus far.

Richards told the Nomads club website: “It’s been uncertain times for us from the football point of view since we stopped functioning as a football club three months ago,” he said.

“Obviously under the circumstances football carries very little weight with what’s going on, but at the same time to get this kind of news when we are all at this moment of uncertainty, more than anything for the boys it’s obviously fantastic, so we’re really happy to hear the news.

“The support we’ve had, just not from the immediate staff, but from everyone involved with the club is fantastic.

“We think we’re the best team in the league and to get to this to this point and hear that we’ve been awarded the league is amazing. We put ourselves in that position.”

The Under-19’s success is only part of what has already been a tremendous season for the Deeside club.

Nomads men’s first team are top of the Welsh Premier and have a really live chance of winning their first title and ending TNS’ hopes of a ninth on the bounce.

And the Nomads ladies are unbeaten in North Wales League Division Two as well as having reached the Welsh Cup semi-finals.
