Six great weekend displays in North Wales football

Llanberis 1 Llandyrnog United 2

It was a great day for Llandyrnog United (whose Cae Nant ground features in this photo)

A first away win of the season for next-to-bottom Llandyrnog at a ground where getting a result is never easy.

On the back of a fine 1-1 draw at Greenfield seven days earlier, Jimmy McNally’s side went one better at Ffordd Padarn, Daniel Lewis and Michael Guest with the all-important goals.

Although there was nothing between these sides points-wise, Albion deserve huge credit for becoming the first team to record a league win over Holywell this season.

Not only did they manage to score against the tightest defence in North Wales football, courtesy of Alex Williams on 71 minutes, they also stopped the dynamic Wellmen attack from finding the net.

Waunfawr 3 Nefyn United 1

Brilliant effort from Waunfawr to become only the second team to beat Nefyn in the league this season.

Osian Glyn (pen), Adam Jones and Shaun Roberts provided the home goals.

Meliden 2 Rhuddlan Town 1

It was quite a weekend for teams suffering their first defeats of the season.

Rhuddlan Town’s unbeaten record was scuppered at the 16th hurdle as the Premier Division leaders went down 2-1 at Meliden.

Joe Newell and Jake Hughes found the net for the hosts, but Rhuddlan remain 12 points clear at the summit.

Llandudno Athletic 2 Y Glannau 3

Y Glannau pulled themselves out of the bottom three with a morale-boosting 3-2 win at Llandudno Athletic.

Jordan Davies-Jones, Gethin Whiteley and Josh McGilvery were the away marksmen, Lee Stokes with two for the hosts.

Rhos celebrated their first league win of the campaign at the 16th attempt as they outscored Llanelwy 4-2.

Ray Lee, Matt Christie, Tom Edgley and Tom Brady claimed one apiece for the hosts, who had lost all 15 previous matches.

Well done to Rhos!
