League round-ups: Gwynedd, Vale, N East Wales and Anglesey – Zalot hits four for Llangoed

Gwynedd League

Tom Zalot was a four-goal hero as in-form Llangoed took the points in a 4-2 victory at Llanystumdwy in the Adra Gwynedd League.

It was a fourth straight win for Mark Thomas’ side, who are now up to fifth in the table, and a personal triumph four young net-buster Zalot, a recent signing from Llanfairpwll.

Zalot, at just 16 years old, has obviously found the step up to the Gwynedd League very much to his liking so far.

The youngster struck first in the 14th minute, latching onto a long Matty Owen throw and applying a lovely finish.

Five minutes later Zalot was coolness personified as he side-footed in from close range via an Aaron Evans header.

Llanystumdwy hit back twice before half time, one finish provided into an empty net after some slack defending, and the next from a near-post corner.

Four minutes into the second half Llangoed were back on top, Jay Finter smartly setting up Zalot for his hat-trick inside the box.

Evans went close for the visitors from a free kick before in the 75th minute Zalot received the ball about 20 yards out, worked it onto his left foot and lashed in an unstoppable shot.

Another polished performance from this young Llangoed outfit with the excellent Zalot not surprisingly named man of the match.

Llangoed also discovered they will travel to Abergele in the quarter-finals of the NWCFA Junior Cup next month. Gele, of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division, whipped Caergybi 7-1 in today’s re-scheduled round three encounter.

Paris Hargrave and James Ryan were both on target twice as Glantraeth chalked up a 6-1 win over Llannerchymedd.

Iwan Kirkham and Joe Haste added singles for Sean Brett’s side, Sion Pritchard responding for the visitors.

Waunfawr ran out 5-2 victors over Bethesda Athletic, Jac Evans leading the charge with a hat-trick, Rhodri Owen and Adam Lloyd notching one apiece, while Dylan Price and Ally Issa responded for Athletic.

Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League

Bro Cernyw showed their mettle in the Premier Division with a convincing 4-1 win over fellow high-flyers Llanfairfechan Town.

The hosts strengthened their grip on third place thanks to goals from Robin Hughes (2), Ianto Roberts and Ioan Williams. Jacob Frazer provided the away team’s sole response.

All other league matches were postponed.

North East Wales League

In the Top Mark Uniforms North East Wales League NEWFA Horace Wynne Cup round two, Caerwys edged a 2-1 victory at Sychdyn.

Tom Cumming struck on two and 45 minutes for Jordan Hadaway’s visiting side, Scott Earnshaw for the home team.
All other games were off due to the weather.

Anglesey League

Holyhead Town produced an heroic performance in a 2-1 home defeat against Cemaes Bay.

The Harbourmen are a team very much in transition, but gave the league leaders a real battle, Rob Thomas their scorer on 46 minutes.

Cemaes clinched it with a very late winner, Ryan Folksman and Andy Williams their marksmen.

Connor Rees delivered a 90th minute decider for Bodorgan in a 1-0 success over Pentraeth Reserves.
