Gwynedd & Anglesey Netball: Stunning start to second phase by Arfon Ladies

Arfon Ladies began phase two in stunning form

Arfon Ladies produced an awesome 37-6 victory over Arfon Celts as the battle of the top and bottom sides in Gwynedd and Anglesey Winter Netball League Division One began last night after the split.

A hard battle was expected in this game given how well Celts have played all season and were only narrowly pipped by a single goal in their first encounter with the Ladies this term.

The first quarter started as the tussle that was anticipated, with only one goal to Ladies in the first four minutes.

However, Ladies soon started to dominate the match while Celts struggled to get any consistency.

A good performance was given by Menai Mavericks against Aran, the Anglesey side establishing an early 6-1 lead.

The second quarter was much closer but Mavericks extended their lead by another two goals to 14-7.

Both teams made changes in the third quarter and Aran matched Mavericks at 7 goals apiece but Menai stayed in control in the final session to take the victory 33-23.

Battle of the bottom of the table saw Porthmadog take on Pwllheli.

Pwllheli dominated the first three quarters to lead 28-6, but Port again battled till the end and got a mini reward when they won the final quarter 6-3. Final score 31-12.

Only three goals separated Primos and Dreigiau Brynrefs in the first quarter at 10-7. Primos extended the score in each of the remaining segments to finish 30-15 winners.
