best news of the year so far for North Wales football!
Forget any other good news you may have celebrated from the world of football this year – here is the best.
Bala Town midfielder Danny Gosset has been given the all-clear and is in remission following his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since August last year.
Danny will now receive radiotherapy treatment and focus on the recovery to his damaged femur.
His delighted club Bala announced on the website earlier today: “On behalf of everyone at Maes Tegid, congratulations Danny – we can’t wait to see you back on the pitch soon!”
In August, the 25-year-old received the devastating news that what he initially thought was a typical football injury was in fact a type of blood cancer known as Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Six months of chemotherapy followed, but today came the news everyone has hoped for when Danny put out the following messages on his Twitter account.
“After 6 months of chemotherapy I’m absolutely delighted to get the all clear – complete REMISSION,” he said.
“The hard work continues, now moving on to radiotherapy treatment. Then to have a full recovery on the damage in my femur. 🙌🏼 Looking forward to getting off these crutches soon for the first time in 6 months. Hopefully I can now move on with some normality.
“Me and my family are truly blessed and so thankful for everything. I appreciate every single one of you who have reached out and supported through this journey.”
Danny received a big boost in his recovery in November when he met the entire Wales squad the day before their 2-0 victory over Hungary in Cardiff to qualify for the Euro 2020 finals.
The North Walian began his career with Oldham Athletic, making two Football League appearances before a spell on loan with Stockport County.
He has also played for Wales at C level as well as representing The New Saints, Bangor City, Cefn Druids, Rhyl and Bala Town in the Welsh Premier.
A JustGiving online account in aid of Danny Gosset fighting non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has raised almost £7,500. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/dannygosset1
All the very best Danny!
