Arfon Ladies had to play half the game a player down due to injury but still managed to record a 37-26 win over ever-improving Porthmadog in Division One of the Gwynedd and Anglesey Winter Netball League.
Multi-championship winners Arfon were put to the test at half time when they lost their GD because of an ankle problem and with no subs had to complete the remainder of the match a player short.
Arfon were delighted to have on their team-sheet long-serving defender Ffion Jones, who normally works on a Wednesday night but was available to make a rare appearance.
Porthmadog again played well, getting more confident with each game.
Two high-flying teams, Arran and Arfon Celts, played out a belter. Celts are nearly always in a close game and this time came out on top 16-15.
It was all about the defence for both sides up to half time with Celts getting a couple of turnovers late on in the second quarter to take a 10-6 lead.
Nothing separated them again in the third period but the fourth saw Arran put on the pressure. Celts hung on to win by a single goal.
Primos pipped Pwllheli 25-23 in another cracker.
Nothing really separated them until the fourth session, and with just over a minute left Pwllheli found themselves four goals down. Still they fought to the final whistle to get two points instead of one for finishing three goals or less behind.
Dyffryn Ladies fought hard to keep up with Menai Mavericks in the first quarter, the Anglesey side edging it by one goal.
Mavericks soon started to push ahead and were comfortable 28-16 winners by the end.
Llangefni produced a stirring fightback to force a 19-19 draw with Wnion.
Despite edging the opener 4-3, Cefni trailed 17-12 going into the last quarter, but won that session 7-2 to take the draw.
Although finishing 2-0 down at the end of the first session, Mellt Brynrefs eventually claimed an 18-8 success over Amigos.
Subway Warriors comfortably overcame Tacos 32-18, while Moniars overpowered Sombreros in the second half to seal a 23-9 triumph.
