Welsh Alliance: Holyhead Hotspur hit the Division One peak, Y Felinheli triumph 7-6 in cup stormer

Holyhead Hotspur top Division One of the Welsh Alliance on goal difference following a 3-1 victory at St Asaph City.

Rob Jones broke the deadlock for the visitors before a quick free kick from Dean Garmey made it 2-0 at half time.

Although James Williams responded with a penalty for Saints, defender Alex Jones made sure of the three points for Spurs.

Bodedern Athletic marked their first away win of the campaign in some style with a 4-0 success at Blaenau Amateurs.

Dean Redmond, Aidan Clark and Tom Wood (2) shared the goals for Ricky Williams’ men.

Sam Jones (2), Danny Calvert and Keiron Roberts guided fourth-place Greenfield to a 4-0 triumph over visitors Llanberis.

Llanrwst United took the honours 4-1 at Llandyrnog United, Callum Parry (2), an own goal and Sam Jones making up the away total, Ross Gilbert hitting back, while Llanrug United finished up 4-2 winners against Penrhyndeudraeth at Eithin Duon.

Kevin Lloyd (2), Carl Griffiths and Jonathan Sadler split the home goals, Tom Smith and Steven Jones responding.

Thomas Collins scored the only goal as Mynydd Llandegai pipped Prestatyn Sports 1-0, while Glan Conwy edged a 1-0 verdict at Nantlle Vale, Conor Davies with the decider after just 30 seconds.

In Division Two, the only league game of the day saw Gwalchmai move up to third with a 3-1 win against long-distance travellers Pwllheli.

The in-form Corey Sinnott struck twice to push up to 11 goals for the season, while an own goal also assisted the hosts, Dafydd Jones converting a late spot-kick for the visitors.

Round two of the Lock Stock Challenge Cup for Division Two sides produced a feast of goals, none more so than at Y Felinheli where the home side eliminated Holyhead Town 7-6.

Gruff John (5, 1 pen) and Iwan Owen (2) filled the home scoresheet, while Asa Thomas (2), Jordan Murphy, Gary Jo Owen, 16-year-old debutant Robert Thomas and Bryn Roberts ran the Harbourmen close.

Sean Pritchard, Paul Bryant and Andrew Wannop found the target for Gaerwen in a 3-0 beating of Amlwch Town, Tomos Jones netted twice for Llannefydd in a 2-0 result at Mochdre Sports and it ended 4-2 to Penmaenmawr Phoenix at Pentraeth, Ethan Jones, Adam Hunt, Harry Roberts and Tom Prince all on the mark for the winners, Owain Roberts and Rees Roberts for the Anglesey side.

Aberffraw pipped Barmouth and Dyffryn 3-2, while Kinmel Bay got past Llandudno Amateurs 4-2 thanks to Kieran Ellis, Jack Wilkins and Steven Flanagan (2), Joseph Jones and Aaron Rogers keeping Sandy Malone’s side in the hunt.

In the Reserves Division, Llanberis and Llanrug United shared a 1-1 result. Jonny Cyster put the Darans ahead, but Gareth Griffiths equalised in the 89th minute.

Llanrwst United and Denbigh Town played out a 3-3 thriller, Jack Parry, Luke Roberts and Steven Parry for the Rwsters, Luke Farley and Andy Thomas (2) the away marksmen.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix and Nantlle Vale drew two apiece, Hayden Tidswell and Morgan Roberts for the hosts, Iestyn Worth and Aaron Griffiths having put Vale two-up.
