Sunday, October 20, will see the return of a special football tournament in the Wrexham area.
Teams will compete for the Arfon Jones Trophy at the close of Hate Crime Awareness Week.
The six-a-side tournament is organised by the Bellevue FC community team, Wrexham Disabled Supporters Association, AVOW and the Wrexham Enterprise Hub.
The competition brings together teams and community groups from across the area to raise awareness of Hate Crime in the region and of course, compete for a trophy that means so much to those involved.
This year sees three of the organisers raising teams for the day with The DSA All Stars and Wrexham Enterprise Hub joining Bellevue FC, who will be hoping to replicate the success of last year when they won the cup.
Alongside them are Saith Seren, Portuguese community group CLPW and Wrexham’s anti-fascist supporters group the Partisans.
Also making a very rare appearance are a team billed as the FNF Originals which is made up of the original lads whose regular football nights evolved into what is now Bellevue FC.
Finding a facility to host the event in the middle of the football season is always a challenge, but this year the teams will be spoiled rotten as they swap the mud, sweat and tears of grass pitches for the amazing facilities at the newly-opened Colliers Park, who generously stretched out a hand and offered this fantastic venue for the afternoon.
The tournament will take place between 1pm and 5pm including a presentation of the trophies for first, second and third place.
The organising team were really happy with the response to this event last year and are hoping that this season’s tournament will build on that success and be even better for everyone involved.
