JD Cymru Premier
Caernarfon Town 1 The New Saints 0

Not so much of a shock the way Caernarfon have been playing, but still a tremendous all-round display from the Cofis which earned them a deserved victory over the champions.

Town moved up to second with a win which stretched their unbeaten league run to eight matches.

The in-form Jamie Breese netted the only goal in the 71st minute, finishing brilliantly from an angle following great approach work from Darren Thomas and Danny Brookwell.

JD Cymru North
Llangefni Town 2 Llandudno 0

Cefni recorded only their second win of the season in front of a bumper Friday night crowd at Cae Bob Parry.

The islanders were facing dangerous opposition in Llandudno, who had already recorded wins over Bangor City and Rhyl as well as holding high-flyers Flint Town United 1-1 the previous weekend.

Town could not have wished for a better start, Steve Kehoe’s speculative 30 yard shot finding its way through Tudno’s keeper Shaun Pearson’s legs to give them a 12th minute lead.

Cefni doubled their advantage early in the second half through Jamie Roberts.

Saturday, October 6

JD Cymru North
Porthmadog 2 Ruthin Town 0

A second-half double from Jay Gibbs made sure Porthmadog celebrated their first win of the season at the ninth attempt.

Port lifted themselves off the basement with a hard-earned victory over a visiting side who had both Dafydd Evans and Richard Harvey Davies sent off in the first half.

The hosts also earned themselves two penalties, but both Gibbs efforts were saved by Ryan Goldston.

Saturday, October 6

Lock Stock Cookson Challenge Cup round one
Llandudno Albion 1 Blaenau Amateurs 2 (aet)

Meilir Williams was the hero with a double in Blaenau’s 2-1 extra time victory at Llandudno Albion.

After starting the season on fire, Williams was sidelined for several weeks with a hip injury before returning in style with a hat-trick in a 4-2 Welsh Cup win over Mochdre Sports seven days earlier.

Last season’s Division One golden boot winner with Penrhyndeudraeth was again the star for Blaenau as he firstly equalised to make it 1-1 at half time, Peter Jones having put the Albion in front, then Williams popped in the decider in the 112th minute.

Welsh National League Premier Division
Penycae 3 Brymbo 4

Brymbo showed tremendous staying power to claim a late win at always tough to beat Penycae.

Both sides missed a penalty but the Steelmen led 1-0 at half time courtesy of a wonderful solo goal from Ryan Clarke.

Andrew Swarbrick netted from close range to make it one-each before the visitors regained the lead on the hour through Jake Clark.

Tom Spearitt of Penycae was shown a red card, but this did not discourage the hosts, who levelled through a superb Calyn Spencer header.

Brymbo struck again thanks to Clarke, only for Ruben Monteiro to make it 3-3 with seven minutes left.

The Steelmen went for it and nabbed the winner via Jamie Cumming three minutes from time.

Top Mark Uniforms North East Wales League
Caerwys 1 Brymbo Victoria 3

Although the unbeaten leaders would be expected to do well, Brymbo Vics faced a really tough test at Caerwys and came through with flying colours.

The visitors booked the points through goals from Joe Humphreys, George Phoenix and Adam Lloyd, Elgan Hughes having struck first for the home side.

Vics are now undefeated in nine and lead the table by nine points.
