Erin Maloney began the season on fire with four goals as Bethel advanced to the next round of the NEWFA Cup.
The pacy young forward, who made the Ynys Mon women’s squad which reached the final of this summer’s Inter-Island Games, grabbed a first-half hat-trick to put the Division One side in command, the Division Two visitors replying with a Rebecca Bannister penalty.
Maloney added another after the interval and Katie Houghton was also on the mark for the maroons, Bannister notching a second for NFA, who deserved full marks for effort.
Becky Lees maintained her great start to the season with a hat-trick as Airbus progressed at Eirias Park.
But for the second game running, new-look Division Two side Penrhyn Bay gave a strong opponent a big test.
Bay took an early lead through a Gemma Hardman screamer, but Tegan Hewitt levelled things up and Lees made it 2-1 before half time.
Penrhyn began the second half superbly, but Lees struck again to make it 3-1 against the run of play.
Nonetheless, Hardman and Hannah Smith, the only home player aged over 17, both scored to bring the match level.
However, the Division One side upped a gear, Lees completing a hat-trick and substitute Courteney Page, who also provided an assist, scoring one herself.
After losing 7-0 at home to Cardiff in the League Cup last weekend, one might have thought it could not have got any worse for Llandudno when they visited the South Walians for a WPWL clash – but unfortunately it did.
On this occasion, the home side scored 10 without reply, Kate Jeremiah and Alana Murphy netting three apiece, Lisa Owen and Siobhan Walsh adding singles and Zoe Atkins a first-half double.
It was only 2-0 at the break, but Tudno capitulated in the second half and had Stacey Tradewell sent off for two yellows on 75 minutes.
