North Wales Road Runner Jonathan Kettle claimed a new personal best time and was 1st MV45 vet in the Caernarfon 10k race, completing the challenging event in just 34 mins 24 secs, with several club members claiming deserved PBs.
Jonathan, who is going through a real purple patch of form lately, finished 5th overall out of 196 top runners over a hilly course on a warm and humid evening, accompanied by 16 other fellow club runners. His teenage son Troy also enjoyed a great run to finish 21 st and was 3rd M12-19 cat in 39.28.
Tony Price-Jones, another runner in good form finished 15th in 38.08. Steve Roberts ran hard in 27th place for a PB, and was also 2nd MV50 cat in 40.56, with Ben Hudson 42nd (43.43) and Karl Morris 49th in 44.27.
Partially-sighted athlete Daniel Owens recorded another PB in 55th spot in 45.24 and ran with Carla Green, who finished as 7th female and claimed 1st F45 cat, sharing the same time as Daniel. Hannah Griffiths celebrated her season’s best result and was 16th female and 3rd F45 cat in 48.48.
Veteran runner Don Hale was 85th and 3rd MV65 cat in 49.13 for a new course PB, whilst Kelly Alford just missed out on a PB but finished as 25th female in 50.31, with Kevin Higgins 99th and 3rd MV55 in 50.37. Helen Hannam was 26th female in 50.59, and Cai Roberts claimed a new PB and was 130th overall in 54.27, with Rachel Morris 64th female in 1.01.41 and Rob Fryer, who did well to finish suffering with a serious tendon injury, was 184th in 1.06.55.
GREEN DUO WIN CAT AWARDS
Talented husband and wife duo Martin and Carla Green both won their age category awards and recorded excellent times at the Tatton Park 10k last Sunday.
Martin enjoyed a brilliant race to finish in 4th place overall behind some top international athletes and collected 1st MV40 cat award in 35 mins 28 secs. Carla also shone brightly as 4th female and 1 st F45 cat in 43.43.
DUBLIN ROCK N ROLL RACES
Jon Evans enjoyed a great double adventure this weekend at the Dublin Rock N Roll events, taking part in both the 5k and half-marathon races.
In the 5k held on Saturday, John recorded a good time of 22.08, and the following day he achieved a season’s best result of
one hour, 43 mins 36 secs.
Seven NWRRC athletes took part in a wet and windy Parkrun at Conwy last Saturday, which despite the near waterlogged and muddy course, still attracted some 252 runners, with two members claiming deserved age category wins.
Tony Price-Jones was first man back in 9th place and was 2nd VM35 in 19.41, with Steve Roberts 24th and 1 st VM50 in 21.23, followed by Gethin Jones, 32nd overall in 21.38.
Partially-sighted runner Daniel Owens, running with guide Anthony Parvin was 41st in 22.33. Steve Poupart came home in 44th place (22.39), with veteran Don Hale 1st M65 cat in 55th spot in 23.24 and Helen Hannam 3rd cat and 125th overall in 27.59.
Mark Jessett enjoyed a tourist day out at the Bexley Parkrun where he finished 26th and claimed 1st SM30 cat in 23.01.
